A Step Of Faith

Message by: Pastor M. Ngoma

Hebrews 11 vs 1-6

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
For by it the elders obtained a good report.
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him
God didn’t tell the Israelites of the struggles on the way to Canaan. He only told them he prepared a land flowing with milk and honey. If He had told them of the difficulties, they would’ve prepared. Faith is leaving whatever you depend upon and depending on God. It is the establishment of what we are expecting, it isn’t there yet but we believe it is.

Mark 9 vs 23 (NKJV)

23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

We sometimes limit God by weighing ourselves and saying God can’t do it. Inferiority complex creeps in and we conclude a lot of things. Faith operates in a different way. Faith establishes what isn’t there. Faith opens your eyes to things the world doesn’t see, it’ll make you see healing where people don’t see healing.

Faith in God is based on 3 basic things

  1. God will never change (Malachi 3 vs 6,16)
  2. God will never fail. (Job 42 vs 2)
  3. God will never lie.

Faith speaks hope into your situation.
Matthew 14 vs 28-30 (NKJV)

28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

Taking a step of faith requires courage.

3 Things That’ll Hinder Your Faith

1. Past experience.
What you’ve experienced before will hinder your breakthrough. Do not live in the past. If experience guides you, you’ll never progress in life.
2. Fear.
Fear blocks your faith.
3. Present situation.
Make sure what surrounds you or your present situations don’t divert you from your faith.

3 People That Exercised Faith

1. The centurion
Matthew 8 vs 7-13
He believed Jesus didn’t have to reach his home for his servant to be healed.
2. The paralytic
Mark 2 vs 1-5
3. Martha
John 11 vs 17-22
Martha believed that even while Lazarus was dead, Jesus could perform a miracle.
